We’d worked with the Farm before this project, helping out with Mailchimp campaigns, website updates and such. Simon gets a veg box from there every week so he’d been for walks around the walled garden where the signs were to sit.

Primarily to educate school groups on farm tours, the signs needed to present information in an easy to consume format (as most signs do). We distilled the wording Jo gave us, split it into logical sections and grabbed some lovely illustrations. Aiming for an organic, natural design, we used brick textures and watercolour illustrations alongside large type. Simple grid systems break the information into 2–4 key areas per sign design.
